Chimney lit to welcome the winter

The biggest copper chimney of Nepal installed at Hotel Yak and Yeti was lit to mark the beginning of this year’s winter. The chimney installed by Boris Lissanevitch, who is considered the father of tourism in Nepal was lit by Russian Ambassador Andrey L Trofimov on November 15 at the Chimney Restaurant.

The chimney lighting ceremony is the remarkable celebration every year to mark the introduction of fine dining in Kathmandu Valley and beginning of winter season.

Ambassador Trofimov said, “I really like the restaurant and this is the fifth time I have been bestowed with this honor.” He further said that he has participated in the ceremony every year in his four and a half year stay here in Nepal.

The chimney will be lit till February 15, 2010.
